Forging Futures: Namibian Delegation's Visit Sparks Anticipation for Collaborative Opportunities in Uganda

Gavin Ngabonziza

I was delighted to extend a warm welcome to the distinguished Namibian advance delegation and the Rt Honorable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations, Madam Netumbo Ndaitwa.

The anticipation surrounding the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit is palpable, and the presence of such esteemed delegates adds an extra layer of significance to this gathering.

As we embark on the NAM summit, it's evident that this is more than a diplomatic event—it's an opportunity to cultivate meaningful partnerships and deepen collaborations.

The sentiments expressed by Mateus Kaholongo, the deputy executive director in the office of the Vice-President of Namibia, resonate strongly.

Uganda, often referred to as the Pearl of Africa, captivates with its beauty and the warmth of its people. The Namibian delegation, in collaboration with the Honorary Consul of Namibia to Uganda, Mr. Godfrey Kirumira, seeks not only to participate but to engage, connect, and forge lasting ties.

The goals extend beyond mere diplomatic discourse. The delegation aspires to contribute to fostering cooperation on a global scale. With an eye on Gaza, the Namibian delegates aim to leverage the NAM platform to strengthen solidarity and support for those affected by conflict.

As the Vice-President of Namibia, Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, leads a 35-member delegation into the heart of Uganda, the possibilities for collaboration multiply with discussions expected to encompass various sectors, from trade and agriculture to mining and tourism.

The admiration Namibians hold for Uganda's agricultural and tourism potential creates a fertile ground for mutually beneficial exchanges.

I also want to highlight the involvement of Madam Netumbo Ndaitwa in the NAM summit signifying the commitment of Namibia to this shared platform. It is a reflection of the belief that international collaboration is essential for addressing global challenges and fostering peace.

As the summit unfolds, let us look forward to the seeds of partnership taking root and blossoming into a future marked by shared accomplishments. Welcome to Uganda, distinguished Namibian delegates.

May our journey together be one of fruitful collaboration and enduring friendship.

Godfrey Kirumira,

Honorary Consul of Namibia to Uganda.
