It is with profound sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the people of Namibia and the global community on the passing of His Excellency President Hage Gottfried Geingob. His departure marks the end of an era, and we mourn the loss of a leader whose impact reached far beyond Namibia's borders.
His absence during the recent Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77+China summits in Kampala was deeply felt, underscoring the void left by a leader committed to advancing Namibia's interests on the international stage.
As the Honorary Consul of Namibia to Uganda and the Chairman of the Kwagalana Group, I stand in solidarity with the Namibian community and friends of Namibia in Uganda during this somber moment.
To honor President Geingob's memory, a condolence book is available at the consulate on Plot 45A Lumumba Avenue, where your messages and signatures will be compiled and shared with the Namibian government.
Plans are underway to organize a delegation to attend the burial in Namibia. As per Namibia's constitution, Vice President Dr. Nangolo Mbumba was sworn in as the new President. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Namibian people during this period of mourning.
In this time of reflection, we not only bid farewell to a remarkable leader but also welcome Namibia's new leadership.
Congratulations to President Nangolo Mbumba and Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. Their recent visit to Uganda for the NAM and G77+China summits showcased their commitment to diplomacy and collaboration.
President Geingob's legacy of fostering friendship between Namibia and Uganda continues, carried forward by the new leadership. We look ahead to strengthening ties, exploring trade opportunities, and building a future of shared prosperity.
May the soul of President Hage Gottfried Geingob rest in eternal peace.
Godfrey Kirumira,
Honorary Consul of Namibia to Uganda.
