A SHARED FUTURE; PRESIDENT MBUMBA'S INVITATION TO UGANDAN BUSINESSMEN

In a recent visit to Namibia for the funeral of late president H.E Hage Geingob, I had the honor of leading a delegation of Ugandan businessmen to a dinner hosted by the President of Namibia, H.E Nangolo Mbumba at the Namibian State House.

The occasion wasn't just a diplomatic courtesy; it was a beckoning call to Ugandan businesswomen and men to tap into the myriad of opportunities that Namibia has on offer.

Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba, in a resounding affirmation of the growing ties between our nations, urged Ugandan entrepreneurs to explore the untapped potential in Namibia.

His message emphasized the role of business as the bedrock of deepening commercial diplomacy and an avenue through which Africa can foster development.

The President entrusted me with the task of mobilizing more Ugandan business leaders and professionals to explore Namibia and harness the opportunities that abound.

Our visit coincided with the somber occasion of laying Namibia's late President Hage Geingob to rest. President Geingob, a revered figure in Namibia's history, left a void that his successor, President Nangolo, is determined to fill with continued growth and cooperation.

President Mbumba, reflecting on the need for African nations to unite, stressed the importance of cooperation in business, resource exploitation, and local processing underscoring the need for African countries to forge partnerships, lest other regions and continents leave us behind.

In the aftermath of this enriching visit, I am tasked with rallying the Ugandan business community to engage in fruitful discussions with Namibian counterparts. It's a call for unity, collaboration, and the seizing of opportunities that can propel both our nations forward.

As we navigate the path ahead, I am optimistic that this call from Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba is not just an invitation but a beckoning to a new era of strengthened ties, mutual growth, and shared prosperity.

Let's embark on this journey together, unlocking the potential that lies at the intersection of Uganda and Namibia.

Godfrey Kirumira,

Honorary Consul of Namibia in Uganda.
